Conditions of participation

We are looking for young people interested in contributing to the debate surrounding the 2014 European elections.

What is “It’s our Europe!”?

In 2012, 350 young Europeans spent several months working together online on topics relating to Europe’s future, leading to the publication of the Ludwigsburg initiative. The initiative contains ideas on how European citizens can deal with current challenges. Emerging from this project, there were some ideas and suggestions, which we would like to develop further. Come and join in with the development of concepts and topics, which affect you as a young European!

Who can take part?

The project is open to pupils, students, trainees and all young, interested Europeans over the age of 15 who live in the European Union. The conditions for taking part are an interest in the European elections, the motivation to work on one of the topics: mobility through education; environment and sustainable development; participation and communication and the ability to speak German, French or English. For legal reasons, participants under the age of 18 will need consent from their parents/guardian.

The number of participants is limited to 90.

As we are interested in having young people from as many European countries as possible in the project, we may have to make a selection from the registrations we receive.

What’s in it for me?

During the course of the project, you will get to know other young Europeans and work together with them on specific topics. You will have the opportunity to discuss your suggestions with politicians and experts.

Together, we will find out about the ways and means in which you can become involved in shaping the Europe of the future and assume responsibilities.

Project timetable

The project consists of:

  • A kick-off meeting in Ludwigsburg from January 27th – 29th 2014 (make a note of the date!)
    27th January: Arrival by 18.00
28th January: Workshops and evening meal together
29th January: Wrap-up discussion over breakfast, followed by departure according to individual travel arrangements, or optional participation in supporting programme.

You will meet the organisers, moderators and, of course, the other participants. We will give you information on the procedures and work in the project and virtual workshops.

  • Participation in a virtual workshop between February and May 2014, accompanied by a moderator, with input from experts on the subject.
  • A wrap-up meeting in May 2014 in a European institution in Strasbourg or Brussels, where the results of your work will be presented. For this event, each workshop will choose delegates to present the results.

What will it cost?

The project is being organised by Ludwigsburg and the Franco-German Institute with the financial support of several foundations.
There will be no costs for participants. Your travelling, accommodation and living expenses will be fully met!
